Mom Hack: Middle of the Night Messes!

Being a parent is messy, am I right? From the moment we bring those sweet little ones home from the hospital, life just gets a little more messy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful mess, and we wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. But motherhood is filled with messes. From leaky diapers, to diaper blow outs, to projectile vomiting…babies are just messy creatures by nature.

Have you noticed that most of those messes happen at night???

I have a tip for you that will get everyone back to sleep as quickly as possible after a middle of the night mess. This tip works for brand new babies, bigger babies, potty training toddlers, or any child really! And this tip is going to blow your mind. It’s so simple, you’re going to think, “Why didn’t I think of that?!”

Here it is…

When making baby’s bed, you put on the water-proof mattress protector first, then the fitted crib sheet. Next, you’re going to put on a second water-proof mattress protector over that crib sheet. Then add a second fitted crib sheet. This way, when you wake up to a mess in the crib, you can easily remove a layer of sheet and mattress protector to reveal a clean layer. No more searching for a clean mattress protector or sheet in the middle of the night. No more stripping the bed down and having to make the bed while you’re half asleep. You only need to remove a layer of bedding to reveal the layer underneath! Just get baby cleaned up and back to sleep quickly, and you can get back to sleep as well.

Isn’t that great?

Let me know what you think! Is this a genius idea or not for you? If you try it out, I’d love to hear from you. We do this is our baby’s nursery, and it has been SUPER HELPFUL.

*Be sure the linens are pulled as tight as possible and secure around the mattress for baby’s safety.  We have never had a problem with the bedding we have used, but you should use your best judgment for baby’s safety.
